The Incoming/Receiving Quality Inspector (Inspector II) performs inspection and testing of purchased materials, components, and products in accordance with documented policies and procedures. This role is responsible for visual, dimensional, and functional inspection activities in a regulated FDA/ISO 13485 environment, supporting Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspection and testing according to documented policies and procedures
- Conduct inspections using microscopes with up to 30× magnification
- Read and comprehend drawings and basic GD&T
- Record inspection and test data as prescribed by written instructions and procedures
- Operate associated test and measurement equipment as instructed and documented
- Document non-conformances in the Non-Conforming Material Review system
- Support First Article Inspection (FAI) and GR&R activities
- Recommend changes to policies and procedures
- Support divisional initiatives in alignment with QMS, EMS, and regulatory requirements
- 2–5 years of quality inspection experience in a regulated manufacturing environment
- Experience using calipers, micrometers, and gages
- Strong blueprint reading capability including basic GD&T
- Experience with microscopes and optical inspection up to 30× magnification
- Operating CMM skills
- Strong documentation practices
- Ability to read and comprehend engineering drawings
- Experience in FDA-regulated or ISO 13485 environments
- Experience supporting FAI and GR&R activities
- Visual and dimensional inspection
- Blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation
- Use of precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gages)
- CMM operation
- Non-conformance documentation
- Quality systems familiarity (QMS/EMS)
- Ability to operate test and measurement equipment per documented procedures
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to recommend process improvements
- Compliance with divisional and regulatory requirements
