Qualifications: Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate in Assigned Subject(s); K-12 Special Education, severe to profound
Job Goal: Provide exceptional instruction to assigned students while working within the district's established policies and procedures.

Position SummaryCreate a flexible program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establish effective rapport with pupils; motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for education following each pupil's ability; and establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.
Essential Duties- Teach mathematics to pupils in a classroom, using the course of study adopted by the Oklahoma State Department of Education and Sand Springs Board of Education, and any other appropriate learning activities.
- Instruct pupils in citizenship and essential subject matter specified in the school district's state law and administrative regulations and procedures.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil with the identified objectives.
- Translates lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize the available time for instruction.
- Utilizes grading patterns that are fairly administered and based on identified criteria.
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. Treat pupils with respect and dignity.
- Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
- Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupils' progress and interpret the school program.
- Interacts with pupils, staff, and parents positively and professionally.
- Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Establish rapport with pupils and provide a pleasant, safe, and orderly climate conducive to learning.
- Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
- Supervise and monitor students during out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day, which may include but are not limited to (cafeteria duty, field trips, playground duty, hallway monitoring, etc.).
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required)- A bachelor's in education or a related field is required.
- Oklahoma Teaching Certification in subjects listed below or subjects or Alternative Teaching Certification approved by the Oklahoma State Department of Education, is required.
- Secondary Mathematics.
- Must possess an ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community.
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others, demonstrate self-discipline and initiative, and follow state and district guidelines.

Regular Requirements: Stand for extended periods; walk; twist at the neck and trunk; bend and reach with hands and arms overhead, above the shoulder, and horizontally; repetitive use of fingers and hands to grasp and/or operate equipment and demonstrate lessons to students.
Occasional Requirements: Lift/move up to 25 pounds, ability to administer CPR.
Visual Requirements: Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information.
