Position for the  school year

Position: Sand Springs Public Schools Early Learning Center Teacher (Daycare)

Location: Early Childhood Center, 1701 E Park Rd, Sand Springs, OK 74063

Days and

Hours:

182 days / 8 hours daily, following the SSPS academic calendar.

Supervisor: Site Principal Lisa Banks and Director of Early Learning Center Chelesa Taylor

Reports to: Director of Sand Springs Public Schools Early Learning Center and ECEC Building Principal

Classification: Non-Exempt

Evaluation: Annually by Supervising Teacher/Director and Site Principal

Qualifications
  • Pass OSBI Background Check and meet other requirements set by the Department of Human Services.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Have a high school diploma, GED, or licensing‑approved equivalent; or have completed 10th grade and be in the process of obtaining a GED within 12 months from employment.
  • Obtain and maintain CPR and first aid certification (OAC 340:110‑3‑284). Certification required within 3 months after November 1, 2016, or before November 1, 2017 if hired before that date.
  • Responsible for direct care of children and for lesson plan development, classroom arrangement, parent communication, family engagement, and program development/evaluation.
Job Goals & Responsibilities
  • Provide care and supervision for infants through preschool children throughout the day.
  • Follow DHS regulations for licensed daycare facilities.
  • Accompany students during meals and assist with meal preparation and cleanup.
  • Clean and maintain an efficient work area.
  • Assist with instruction, errands, and copying related to assigned students.
  • Alert the Director of concerns related to students.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, board policies, and procedures.
  • Use professional behavior in all school‑related interactions.
  • Assist the Director in monitoring student progress, observing and charting behavior, and managing crises.
  • Supervise children in hallway, lunchroom, classroom, and playground.
  • Build positive relationships with each child, fostering self‑esteem and self‑discipline.
  • Assist Master Teacher in implementing policies, procedures, regulations, and daily operation guidelines.
  • Help Director review each child's progress and develop written plans to promote growth and development.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and attractive classroom environment conducive to optimal growth.
  • Record and assess each child's skills, interests, and needs to facilitate learning.
  • Establish positive relationships with each child's parent/guardian and share information about the child's day.
  • Participate in staff/parent meetings.
  • Assist in implementing Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) and inclusion of children with disabilities.
  • Assist Director in implementing parent involvement activities.
  • Maintain dignity, empowerment, and respect with all children, parents, callers, staff, and volunteers.
  • Act as a positive role model.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

  • Willingness to perform other tasks assigned by supervisor.

Additional certification may be required.
