Qualifications: Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate in Assigned Subject(s);
Middle School Teacher:
Elementary Certification or Middle School Certification in Social Studies
Status: Exempt
Evaluation: Annually, Pursuant to Oklahoma Law, TLE
Salary: Based on education and years of service
Job Goal: Provide exceptional instruction to assigned students while working within the established policies and procedures of the district.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish and implement classroom procedures designed to maximize student learning in an environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Prepare detailed weekly written lesson plans consistent with Oklahoma Academic Standards, designed to teach skills on course curriculum maps, and submit plans to the assigned principal in a timely manner.
- Comply with and fully implement all Individualized Education Plans and behavioral or academic interventions.
- Maintain a neat and orderly classroom, including the physical arrangement of the room, student records, and materials.
- Handle routine classroom discipline fairly.
- Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and develop reasonable classroom behavior and procedure rules to maintain order fairly and justly.
- Attend and participate in all required meetings and conferences, including professional development and planning meetings, and strive for professional growth.
- Maintain complete and accurate student records, including attendance, performance, and discipline.
- Provide professional and regular feedback to students and parents, ensuring compliance with all laws and district policies and procedures, and communicate regularly with parents via notes, phone calls, conferences, etc.
- Utilize professional behavior in all school-related interactions.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, board policies, and procedures.
- Use formative and summative data to guide instruction, plan for student interventions, and communicate progress to parents.
- Provide individualized and small group instruction, adapting the curriculum as needed.
- Provide a technology‑enriched environment to support student learning.
- Maintain availability to students and parents for education‑related purposes outside the instructional day.
- Plan and coordinate the work of teacher assistants, parents, and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips.
- Collaborate with other professionals to enrich and improve students' academic progress.
- Provide distance learning as necessary.
- Perform all other tasks as a supervisor may assign.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Participate in curriculum review and design.
- Implement a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives.
- Diagnose and evaluate student abilities and progress in a timely and consistent manner.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Plan a program of study that meets the student's individual needs, interests, and abilities.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
- Assess students' accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports as required.
- Refer students to the District's alternative services (ESL, Reading, Special Reading).
- Effectively implement district initiatives.
- Effectively collaborate with the department and grade-level teachers.
