Job DescriptionPosition Title: Middle School Band Director
Qualifications: Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate in Assigned Subject(s)
Supervises: Assigned Paraprofessionals, Volunteers, and Students
Salary: In accordance with SSPS pay scale. Stipends for additional duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Establish and implement classroom procedures to maximize student learning.
- Prepare detailed weekly lesson plans aligned with Oklahoma Academic Standards.
- Fully implement Individualized Education Plans and behavioral/academic interventions.
- Maintain a neat, orderly classroom and accurate student records.
- Handle routine classroom discipline fairly.
- Assist the administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
- Attend and participate in required meetings and professional development.
- Provide professional feedback to students and parents, ensuring compliance with district policies.
- Use formative and summative data to guide instruction and communicate progress.
- Provide individualized and small‑group instruction, adapting curriculum as needed.
- Utilize technology to enrich student learning.
- Maintain availability for education-related matters outside instructional hours.
- Plan and coordinate work of teacher assistants, parents, and volunteers.
- Collaborate with other professionals to enhance academic progress.
- Provide distance learning as necessary.
- Perform additional supervisory tasks as assigned.
- Abide by state statutes, school board policies, and regulations.
- Attend meetings and perform duties assigned by administrators or supervisors.
- Protect students, equipment, and facilities.
- Maintain accurate records as required by law and district policy.
- Serve on committees as assigned.
- Stay current on instructional practices, including instructional technology.
- Possibly drive district activity bus or school bus.
Stand for extended periods; walk; bend, twist, reach overhead; repetitive use of fingers, hands, and arms.
Lift or move up to 50 pounds; administer CPR as needed.
Visual acuity and hearing and speaking adequate for communication.
- Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate in Assigned Subject(s).
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
