Job DescriptionPosition Title: 6th Grade Mathematics Teacher
Location: Clyde Boyd Middle School, 305 West 35 Street, Sand Springs, OK 74063
Reports to: Building Principal, Dakota Nealy
Supervises: Assigned Paraprofessionals, Volunteers, and Students
Contract: 180 days / 7 hours daily
Status: Exempt
Qualifications: Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate in assigned subject(s);
Middle School Teacher certification or Elementary Certification in Intermediate or Advanced Mathematics; OSBI background check.
Evaluation: Annually, pursuant to Oklahoma Law.
Salary: Based on education and years of service.
Job Goal: Provide exceptional instruction to assigned students while working within the established policies and procedures of the district.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Establish and implement classroom procedures designed to maximize student learning.
- Prepare detailed weekly written lesson plans consistent with Oklahoma Academic Standards.
- Comply with and implement all Individualized Education Plans and behavioral or academic interventions.
- Maintain a neat and orderly classroom, including physical arrangement, student records, and materials.
- Handle routine classroom discipline fairly.
- Assist in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
- Attend and participate in all required meetings and conferences, including professional development and planning meetings.
- Maintain complete and accurate student records, including attendance, performance, and discipline.
- Provide professional and regular feedback to students and parents; communicate regularly via notes, phone calls, conferences, etc.
- Use formative and summative data to guide instruction and communicate progress to parents.
- Provide individualized and small group instruction, adapting the curriculum as needed.
- Provide a technology-enriched environment to support student learning.
- Maintain availability to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
- Plan and coordinate the work of teacher assistants, parents, and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips.
- Collaborate with other professionals to enrich and improve students' academic progress.
- Provide distance learning as necessary.
- Perform all other tasks as a supervisor may assign.
- Participate in curriculum review and design.
- Implement a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives.
- Diagnose and evaluate student abilities and progress in a timely and consistent manner.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Plan a program of study that meets the student's individual needs, interests, and abilities.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
- Assess students' accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports as required.
- Refer students to the district's alternative services (ESL, Reading, Special Reading).
- Effectively implement district initiatives.
- Effectively collaborate with the department and grade-level teachers.
- Abide by state statutes, school board policies, and regulations.
- Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
- Take all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Serve on committees as assigned.
- Remain current on instructional practices in education, e.g., instructional technology.
Stand for extended periods; walk; twist at the neck and trunk; bend and reach with hands and arms overhead, above the shoulder, and horizontally; repetitive use of fingers and hands to grasp and/or operate equipment and demonstrate lessons to students.
Lift/move up to 25 pounds; ability to administer CPR.
Visual requirements: close, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Hearing/Speaking requirements: adequate to exchange information.
