Environmental Specialist - Southwest Tube (OK Carbon Division)
Role Purpose & Mission

Join Southwest Tube as an Environmental Specialist and play a key role in advancing environmental stewardship and compliance within a dynamic manufacturing environment. In this role, you'll partner closely with the OKC Environmental Manager to support and enhance environmental performance, sustainability initiatives, and regulatory compliance across the facility.

You'll collaborate with operations, engineering, safety, and leadership teams while working alongside the site Wastewater Treatment Technician to ensure the health of critical systems, mitigate risk, and drive continuous environmental improvement. What You'll Do
  • Support daily OPDES wastewater treatment operations, ensuring both regulatory compliance and system performance
  • Act as a key liaison with engineering on wastewater system challenges and improvements
  • Assist with environmental permitting and regulatory compliance activities
  • Participate in incident investigations and risk assessments to strengthen site performance
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of environmental programs and process improvements
  • Support air emissions management and sustainability initiatives, including resource conservation and emissions reduction
  • Help develop and deliver training and awareness programs to build a culture of environmental responsibility
  • Prepare and present environmental reports in partnership with the Carbon Environmental Manager
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate best environmental practices into daily operations
What You Bring Core Skills & Experience
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and a desire to expand expertise in compliance and permitting
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage all levels of the organization
  • Experience or interest in auditing, risk assessment, and corrective action planning
  • Passion for sustainability and continuous environmental improvement
  • Analytical mindset with skills in tracking, reporting, and data analysis (Microsoft Office proficiency required)
  • Ability to partner effectively across teams, including operations, engineering, safety, and corporate functions

How You'll Make an Impact

You will directly influence the site's environmental performance by helping ensure compliance with key regulations, including:

  • RCRA, Stormwater, Title V / PSD, and OPDES
  • Timely and accurate reporting (TIER II, TRI, DMRs, Hazardous Waste Inspections)
  • Support for ISO 14001 and internal audit programs
  • Strengthened environmental training and awareness across the facility
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field
  • 1-2+ years of experience in environmental compliance
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations
Preferred
  • Professional certifications (CHMM, CEP, or similar)
  • Master's degree in Environmental Management, Sustainability, or related field
  • 3-4+ years of environmental experience, ideally in manufacturing or industrial settings
  • Experience with metals, tubing, or similar industrial operations
Work Environment & Expectations
  • Blend of office and hands-on manufacturing environment
  • Exposure to industrial conditions (noise, dust, chemicals, machinery) with required PPE
  • Moderate physical activity including plant inspections and incident response
  • On-call availability for emergency response in a 24/7 operation
