Water Treatment Technician Role Purpose / Mission
The Water Treatment Technician ensures the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of Webco’s industrial water systems, including treatment, discharge, and recycling processes. This role is critical to environmental compliance, equipment longevity, and production efficiency. The technician collaborates with maintenance, operations, and environmental teams to ensure all systems meet internal and regulatory standards, supporting Webco’s commitment to operational excellence and environmental stewardship.
ShiftD-Shift (Thursday Night - Saturday Night, EO Wednesday Night, 6pm to 6am)
Key Responsibilities- Operate and monitor water treatment equipment, including clarifiers, filters, softeners, reverse osmosis units, and chemical dosing systems.
- Conduct regular water quality testing (pH, turbidity, conductivity, TDS, etc.) and adjust systems to maintain target parameters.
- Perform routine maintenance on pumps, valves, tanks, and other water system components to prevent downtime and extend equipment life.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations (EPA, DEQ, NPDES, etc.) and maintain accurate records of chemical use, testing, and system performance.
- Safely handle, store, and apply treatment chemicals following safety standards, SDS requirements, and manufacturer guidelines.
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve system issues; coordinate with maintenance or external vendors as needed.
- Assist with wastewater treatment, discharge permits, spill response, and stormwater compliance initiatives.
- Work closely with production, maintenance, and EHS teams to support water-related needs and continuous improvement projects.
- Water Treatment Knowledge Familiarity with industrial water and wastewater systems, equipment, and processes.
- Regulatory Compliance Understanding of environmental permits, EPA/DEQ regulations, and operational standards.
- Analytical Testing Ability to perform water testing, interpret results, and adjust treatment systems accordingly.
- Mechanical Aptitude Troubleshooting and performing basic maintenance on pumps, valves, sensors, and tanks.
- Chemical Safety Knowledge of SDSs, PPE, and safe chemical handling procedures.
- Attention to Detail Accurately tracks data, follows procedures, and identifies anomalies early.
- Recordkeeping Maintains organized logs, test results, and regulatory compliance records.
- Communication Effectively reports issues, trends, and improvement opportunities to teams.
- Integrity Honest and diligent in recordkeeping, reporting, and compliance.

Preparedness for internal, environmental, and safety audits. - Team Feedback:
Positive feedback from operations, maintenance, and EHS teams regarding responsiveness and support.
Preferred Qualifications
- Required High school diploma or GED.
- Required 2+ years of experience operating or maintaining industrial water treatment or wastewater systems.
- Required Basic knowledge of water chemistry, treatment equipment, and regulatory requirements.
- Required Ability to obtain state-issued water/wastewater treatment certification if required.
- Required Familiarity with mechanical systems, basic PLC/HMI operation, and lab testing equipment.
- Preferred Water or wastewater operator certification (Class C or higher, Oklahoma or other).
- Preferred Experience in industrial or heavy manufacturing environments.
- Preferred Knowledge of NPDES permitting, stormwater plans, and spill prevention systems.
- Preferred Experience with CMMS, data logging, or digital compliance tracking systems.
- Frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of chemicals and equipment (up to 50+ lbs.).
- Standing, walking, bending, and climbing stairs or ladders for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity for testing, sampling, and equipment operation.
