Summary and Objective
The Code Fitter Welder is responsible for fitting and welding ASME code 100% x‑ray coils.
Essential FunctionsReasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Clamps, holds, tack‑welds, grinds, and bolts components to position for welding.
- Examines work pieces for defects and measures them with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Measures dimensions of completed products or work pieces to verify conformance to specifications.
- Develops templates and models for welding projects, using mathematical calculations based on blueprint information.
- Analyzes engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.
- Maintains and completes all required records and production documentation.
- Layouts fittings, supports, and couplings per blueprint into coil.
- Removes rough spots from work pieces using portable grinders, hand files, or scrapers.
- Maintains a safe work environment and reports defective tools and equipment.
- Operates a forklift and crane.
- Complies with all safety rules and regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work EnvironmentNon‑temperature‑controlled environment with loud noises, dust, dirt, and metal particles typical of metal fabrication shops. All employees are required to wear personal protective equipment including noise/hearing protection, safety glasses with side shields, safety harness, full‑face grinding shield, welding hood, and OSHA‑compliant safety boots/shoes within the manufacturing facility.
Physical DemandsThe employee is regularly required to stand for long periods, walk, reach, ascend/descend ladders, bend, kneel, and stoop. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Position Type and HoursThis is a full‑time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additional work hours and weekends may be required as job duties demand.
TravelNo travel is required for this position.
Education and Experience- Pass ASME Code Section 8 Welding test.
- Pass 2" schedule 160 carbon, 6G pipe test; GTAW (TIG) and FCAW (Fluxcore).
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- 2‑year technical degree or vocational certificate in welding preferred.
- 4 to 5 years of relevant experience and/or training.
- Read and interpret blueprints and possess strong mathematical skills.
- Use and read level, tapes, protractors, and various tools.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Work independently on assigned tasks.
