Material Handler -OGI

Responsibilities

Loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or work site, performing the following duties:

• Read work orders or follow oral instructions to determine materials or containers to move.
• Open containers using steel cutters, crowbar, claw hammer, or other hand tools.
• Load and unload materials onto or from trucks, trays, racks, and shelves using forklift.
• Verify inbound/outbound raw materials against purchase orders, packing lists, or bills of material.
• Mark materials with purchase order number, lot number, heat number, and job number.
• Maintain material yard and storage areas for identification, organization, and access.
• Load materials into vehicles and install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
• Convey materials to or from storage or work sites to designated areas using forklift.
• Operate forklift to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
• Read a tape measure; use simple math and general knowledge of steel shapes.

• Ability to operate a forklift.
• Ability to work independently on assigned tasks.

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• 6 months to 1 year of relevant experience and/or training.

• Non‑temperature‑controlled environment with loud noises, dust, dirt, and metal particles typical of metal fabrication shops.
• All employees required to wear personal protective equipment, including noise/hearing protection, safety glasses with side shields, and OSHA‑compliant safety boots/shoes.

• Regularly required to sit; frequently required to walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
• Occasionally required to stand.
• Must frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.

Full‑time position;
Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

No travel required.
