Job DescriptionAs a Production Planner, you will develop and manage the master production schedule by balancing customer demand, material availability, labor capacity, and manufacturing constraints. Working cross-functionally, you'll help optimize production flow, improve schedule performance, and ensure customer commitments are met.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain the master production schedule.
- Coordinate production priorities across manufacturing departments.
- Monitor production progress and adjust schedules to address changing priorities.
- Analyze labor capacity, material availability, and machine utilization.
- Identify bottlenecks, scheduling conflicts, and delivery risks while developing recovery plans.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Purchasing, Project Management, Operations, and Sales.
- Maintain accurate scheduling data and production reports.
- Monitor KPIs including schedule adherence, on-time delivery, and capacity utilization.
- Coordinate customer shipments, freight scheduling, and shipping documentation.
- Recommend process improvements to increase operational efficiency.
- 3–5 years of production planning, scheduling, manufacturing operations, or project controls experience.
- Experience with ERP systems (Epicor preferred).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing workflows, labor planning, capacity management, and production scheduling.
- Ability to analyze production data and develop capacity forecasts.
- Experience with metal fabrication or engineered-to-order manufacturing preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills.
- Effective communication and cross-functional leadership.
- Ability to prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail with strong decision-making skills.
