Summary/Objective

The Warehouse Clerk receives, stores, and distributes material, tools, equipment, and products within the warehouse, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all job functions.

Essential Functions
  • Assist shipping and receiving unloading trucks, checking in material, matching purchase orders to sales orders, and distributing to accounting for processing.
  • Responsible for distributing or allocating specific parts, materials, or components from inventory to support active assembly jobs.
  • Read customer orders, work orders, shipping orders or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed and/or shipped.
  • Move materials and items from receiving or storage areas to shipping or to other designated areas.
  • Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
  • Ensure the warehouse is accessible and safe for salespeople and customer traffic.
  • Mark materials with identifying information using appropriate method.
  • Open boxes, crates, and other containers.
  • Record amounts of materials or items received or distributed via appropriate computer program.
  • Assist in counting of physical inventory.
  • Operate forklift and/or pallet jack as needed.
  • Complete requisition forms to order supplies from other departments.
  • Prepare parcels for mailing.
  • Sweep, dust, and mop.
  • Organize warehouse and work area for orderliness at all times.

Supervisor Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

Non-temperature-controlled environment with loud noises, dust, dirt, and metal particles typical of metal fabrication shops. All employees are required to wear personal protective equipment including noise/hearing protection, safety glasses with side shields, and OSHA compliant safety boots/shoes.

Physical Demands

Required to stand for long periods, walk, reach, ascend/descend ladders, bend, kneel, and stoop. Occasionally lifts or moves up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

Full-time. Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Local travel may be required to pick up or deliver products.

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of relevant experience and/or training.
  • Basic computer skills/knowledge.
  • Possession of strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Clean/safe driving record to operate company vehicle.
