Material Handler
Role Purpose / Mission
The Storeroom Attendant is responsible for performing daily assignments, managing inventory, and supporting the overall operation of the storeroom to ensure materials and supplies are available for production and internal customers. This role assists in receiving, storing, and distributing materials, maintaining accurate inventory records, and supporting storeroom and supply chain processes to maximize efficiency and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities- Perform daily assignments and participate in projects to maintain storerooms and inventory control procedures.
- Receive, inspect, and record incoming supplies, verifying invoices and packing slips.
- Conduct regular physical inventories and cycle counts to maintain accurate stock levels.
- Deliver supplies and materials to departments, ensuring internal customer needs are met.
- Package and prepare outgoing orders to minimize damage and loss.
- Enter and maintain inventory data in SAP or other ERP systems.
- Communicate with vendors and internal customers to address urgent supply needs.
- Monitor front gate controls and security camera/recording systems when required.
- Assist with unloading coil trucks and properly identifying materials for storage or production.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance storeroom efficiency and service.
- Serve as backup for safety personnel and other assigned duties as needed.
- Inventory Management Maintains accurate records of stock, materials, and supplies.
- Receiving & Distribution Ensures timely and accurate receipt and delivery of materials.
- SAP / ERP Proficiency Uses SAP or similar systems to track inventory and manage transactions.
- Attention to Detail Accurately verifies invoices, packing slips, and inventory counts.
- Operational Support Assists production and internal customers with material needs.
- Problem Solving Identifies and resolves supply or inventory issues efficiently.
- Communication Maintains clear, professional communication with team, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Drive Takes initiative to complete assignments and improve storeroom processes.
- Integrity Ensures accuracy and honesty in all inventory and receiving activities.
- Team-Ability Works collaboratively with other storeroom, production, and office staff.

- Responsiveness to internal customer requests and emergency supply needs.
- Adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Contribution to process improvement initiatives in the storeroom.
Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or GED; prior experience in shipping, receiving, or inventory helpful.
- Proficiency in MS Office and SAP or similar ERP systems.
- Strong verbal communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
- Proactive, flexible, and motivated to improve skills and performance.
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Working knowledge of inventory management and receiving processes.
- Familiarity with handling and moving materials safely.
- Work a minimum of 12 hours per day; additional hours as required.
- Full range of body motion including lifting, bending, twisting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, stooping, and squatting.
- Frequent walking and standing on concrete floors; may walk up to 2 miles per shift.
- Ability to lift items ranging from 5 to 50 lbs.
- Corrected vision and hearing within normal range.
- Repetitive hand movements for inventory handling and computer use.
- Ability to perform under production deadlines and emergency situations.
Time divided between office environment and manufacturing floor. Office is temperature-controlled and clean; manufacturing area may have loud machinery and high noise levels. Exposure to hot temperatures (95-110°F) in summer and variable cold conditions. Required to wear PPE, including safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection, and steel-toed footwear while in plant areas. Fast-paced, high-pressure environment requiring attention to safety and detail.
