ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist the Director of Nursing in organizing and directing the day‑to‑day functions of the licensed and unlicensed nursing staff (personnel and administrative).
  • Admit, discharge and transfer patients as requested.
  • Provide documentation and billing supplies.
  • Send patients to the hospital as necessary.
  • Follow procedures when unable to reach a physician.
  • Develop work assignments for unlicensed staff.
  • Make compliance rounds and report any pertinent issues.
  • Maintain effective lines of communication with attending physicians.
  • Coordinate the care planning/MDS process and committee meetings with the Director of Nursing Services as necessary.
  • Participate in patient screening and selection processes as requested.
  • Monitor physician services (documentation and visits) in accordance with current regulations.
  • Follow up on consultant recommendations (pharmacy, dietary, etc.).
  • Provide demonstration/education to licensed and unlicensed staff as needed.
  • Complete documentation procedures on patients (appropriate forms, timelines, Medicare documentation, etc.).
  • Communicate with physicians, arrange transportation for doctor appointments and contact families.
  • Demonstrate appropriate/effective supervisory skills with fair corrective actions administered without regard to race, color, creed, national origin, age, sex, religion, handicap or marital status.
  • Provide the Director of Nursing Services with reports/documentation to support departmental updates and corrective actions.
  • Assist in interviewing, screening and selecting associates according to established staffing budgets.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing Services in maintaining personnel file documentation (reference checks, screenings, corrective actions, evaluations, skills verification, etc.).
  • Review and respond to complaints/grievances concerning the department.
  • Maintain inter‑departmental communication to foster positive working relationships.
  • Monitor compliance of licensed and unlicensed staff with procedural guidelines and protocols.
  • Maintain knowledge of licensure standards and the survey process.
  • Monitor work of other nursing staff for thoroughness.
  • Make rounds to provide proper care and cleanliness for patients.
  • Coordinate patient care.
  • Assist nursing staff according to needs.
  • Implement Education, Infection Control, and/or Quality Assurance Programs.
  • Promote the image and reputation of the System through servant leadership and open communication.
  • Contribute to committees, work groups, project management, and collaborative efforts of the System.
  • Perform other duties as necessary to ensure the success of the System.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills. Effective and professional verbal and written communication skills. Communicates well with associates, patients, family members and visitors, providing a warm and friendly greeting and an approachable attitude. Responds to expressed concerns with a helpful, caring demeanor and answers questions in a professional manner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university, or a graduate of an approved RN program. Active RN License to practice in the State of Georgia.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides oversight and direction to unlicensed nursing personnel.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
