The Mountain Bike Instructor is responsible for delivering safe, engaging, and skill-appropriate mountain biking instruction to individuals or groups of all ages and experience levels. This role involves teaching beginner to advanced riding techniques, promoting trail etiquette, and ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment. Instructors must demonstrate strong communication skills, a passion for biking, and a commitment to safety and outdoor education for our 4‑day summer bike camps.
EssentialFunctions and Major Responsibilities
- Teach lessons utilizing recognized methodology accepted by the Bike Instructor Certification Program (BICP), with an emphasis on safety, fun, and learning while upholding the highest levels of guest service.
- Teach riders of varying experience levels core mountain biking techniques such as body positioning, braking, cornering, climbing, descending, and navigating technical terrain.
- Promote trail stewardship and etiquette by educating riders on responsible trail use, environmental awareness, and respectful behavior toward other trail users.
- Responsible for teaching and managing groups of 1 to 8 students ranging from 8 to 13 years old of differing abilities.
- Willingness to develop personal skills in the realms of guest, teaching and technical skills.
- Conduct pre‑ride safety checks, assess trail conditions, and enforce the use of proper protective gear. Monitor participants for fatigue or injury and respond appropriately to emergencies.
- Prepare and organize teaching aids, route plans, and safety protocols to ensure smooth and effective sessions.
- Teach students basic bike repair including replacing or repairing bike tire tubes.
- Minor first aid
- Excellent and professional verbal communication skills are necessary
- Ability to work in a team environment
Job Skills
- License/Certifications - BICP (Bike Instructor Certification Program) Level 1 preferred, Ride Leader Certification required.

- Must be able to communicate instructions to others, full suspension bike required, personal pads and helmets required.
