To grow an existing portfolio of corporate risk insurance clients through proactive relationship management, product development and new business generation.
Main Responsibilities1. Develop the Existing Client Portfolio
- Build an ongoing prospect pipeline through liaison across the business, and through broker and client relationships.
- Apply financial acumen to interpret financial statements and actuarial data, and to manage budgets.
- Build the organisation's brand image and market presence.
- Identify opportunities to maintain and grow the portfolio.
- Distribute and discuss statistical information with clients.
- Check and forward financial statements to clients.
- Design and prepare client status reports.
- Provide prompt authorisation of claim payments.
- Manage and resolve client queries.
- Re-evaluate portfolio structures and servicing requirements on an ongoing basis relative to clients' changing needs.
- Evaluate client needs to identify cross-selling opportunities for additional products.
- Participate in the renewal process with brokers and clients.
- Ensure all documentation relating to the insurance programme facility is complete and in place.
- Achieve a targeted annual new business budget.
- Develop new products and new insurance structures.
- Create and maintain business relationships that drive new business growth in both income and client base.
- Engage with Financial Managers, Financial Directors and Risk Managers at client EXCO level.
- Build and maintain relationships at client, broker and interdepartmental levels.
- Liaise with Underwriting, Finance, Actuarial and Claims departments.
- Attend product launches.
- Discuss and finalise product specifications.
- Finalise pricing, cost and income structures.
- Co-ordinate documentation, roles and responsibilities, agreements, systems, legal requirements, processes and procedures.
- Compile and manage budgets.
- Market the organisation's products and services.
- Follow up on inquiries and queries.
- Source potential clients and products.
- Comply with new business take-on procedures.
- Maintain monthly compliance/self-assessment questions through the relevant risk management system.
- Attend monthly operational meetings.
- Administer client files.
- Maintain a weekly prospects list and report back on divisional issues.
- Conduct monthly budget reviews and report on variances and new business targets.
- Report back to the Executive weekly on the above items.
- Manage delivery against deadlines, including budgets, forecasts, project deliverables, financials and actuarial deadlines.
Formal Education
Technical / Legal Requirements
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- FAIS compliant (preferable).
- 4–6 years' general business and insurance experience.
- Sound knowledge of the insurance industry.
- Analytical thinking and attention to detail.
- Results and solution focused, with drive, energy and follow-through.
- Strong self-management – planning, prioritising and time management.
- Visibility and impact, including professional presentation.
- Relationship building, including active listening and interpersonal sensitivity.
