Petroleum Geologist

Our client is seeking a skilled Petroleum Geologist to join their exploration and production team in Sandton . This role focuses on identifying and evaluating potential hydrocarbon reservoirs through the analysis of geological data. You will work with seismic, well log, and core data to develop subsurface interpretations and contribute to exploration strategies. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining office-based analysis with potential field visits or remote collaboration.

• Analyze geological data, including seismic, well logs, and core samples, to identify prospective hydrocarbon plays.
• Develop and interpret geological models and maps to define exploration targets.
• Collaborate with geophysicists and reservoir engineers on integrated subsurface studies.
• Assess geological risks and uncertainties associated with exploration and development projects.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for management.
• Stay abreast of new geological technologies and methodologies relevant to the Oil & Gas sector.

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or Earth Sciences;
  Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Petroleum Geologist in the Oil & Gas industry .
• Proficiency in geological software for data analysis, interpretation, and modeling.
• Strong understanding of depositional environments, structural geology, and sedimentology.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities for a hybrid work setting.
