Petroleum Geologist - Exploration

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Petroleum Geologist with a focus on exploration to join their dynamic team in Sandton . This hybrid role offers an exciting opportunity to identify and evaluate potential hydrocarbon resources through the integrated analysis of geological, geophysical, and geochemical data. You will play a key role in the exploration lifecycle, from regional studies to prospect generation and evaluation.

Collaborating with geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and drilling teams, you will contribute to strategic decision-making and the success of exploration ventures within the Oil & Gas industry . The ideal candidate is an analytical thinker with a passion for uncovering subsurface potential.

• Analyze and interpret geological data, including well logs, core samples, and seismic data, to understand subsurface geology.
• Identify and evaluate potential hydrocarbon prospects and plays using integrated geological and geophysical methods.
• Develop detailed geological models and maps to guide exploration drilling and development efforts.
• Collaborate with geophysicists to integrate seismic interpretation with geological models.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and prospect evaluations for management and stakeholders.
• Stay abreast of new exploration technologies and methodologies within the Oil & Gas sector .

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geology, Petroleum Geology, or a related Earth Science field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in exploration geology within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Proficiency with geological software and interpretation tools (e.g., Petrel, Geo Graphix, Kingdom Suite).
• Strong understanding of sedimentology, stratigraphy, structural geology, and basin analysis.
• Experience with sequence stratigraphy and seismic interpretation is highly desirable.
