Job Overview
As a Mechanical Engineer at JBTMarel, you will perform complex activities related to the design, testing and evaluation of mechanical systems of food‑equipment machinery. You will interface with applications, sales, manufacturing, sourcing and customers to define needs for new or custom features. You will prepare mechanical‑engineering studies, specifications and cost estimations, perform CAD layouts, calculations and DFMEA to ensure delivery of customer specifications, and assist with solving unique mechanical field problems.
You will work with manufacturing, sourcing, purchasing and suppliers to optimize the cost/value relationship of the mechanical systems being designed.
- Lifecycle management of design data: create and check drawings, CAD models, ECNs and database management – 45%
- Collaborate with cross‑functional internal customers to ensure design can be manufactured and sourced at best cost and value – 30%
- Contribute technical and project‑management expertise in testing, validation and debugging of food‑equipment machinery – 10%
- Perform detailed calculations to contribute to both design and troubleshooting processes – 10%
- Contribute to budgeting, scoping, scheduling of projects – 5%
- Perform other duties as assigned (occasional responsibilities).
- BS degree in mechanical engineering or similar field from an ABET‑accredited program.
- Zero to three years of relevant experience (minimum 5+ years in automatic, industrial manufacturing environment).
- English fluency required.
- Knowledge of advanced mathematical concepts; ability to perform detailed calculations.
- Computer literate and proficient with spreadsheets, 3‑D CAD and other relevant software.
- Ability to independently search for technical information, respond to inquiries from internal and external customers promptly and professionally, and write clear product specifications and project development plans.
Hybrid schedule: office at least three days per week and remote up to two days.
