Systems Engineer, Electrical Engineering
Wind Wright, a subsidiary of Stratolaunch, accelerates hypersonic development by improving the capacity and capabilities of ground test facilities using digital engineering environments.
Instrumentation Engineer II is hired to support instrumentation, data acquisition, and control system development for an existing high‑speed wind tunnel. Experience with aerospace or defense controls design is a strong plus.
- Provide recommendations for data acquisition system and broader control system architecture
- Design data acquisition systems to collect and process data from various sensors
- Develop and implement data acquisition software and hardware solutions
- Ensure data acquisition systems meet accuracy, reliability, and performance standards
- Identify and select appropriate sensors for various applications based on performance requirements and environmental conditions
- Create and maintain instrumentation wiring diagrams
- Perform, document, and maintain sensor calibrations
- Set up and conduct bench tests to validate instrumentation system functionality
- Identify, document, and communicate design requirements, constraints, and risks
- Support the preparation of business proposals to the US Government and industry
- Travel, as needed, to support the company
- Demonstrate honesty, responsibility, integrity, and fulfillment of commitments
- Required: Proficiency in sensor technologies and data acquisition systems, strong understanding of calibration procedures and instrumentation testing methodologies, ability to obtain a security clearance at the TS/SCI level.
- Preferred: Strong understanding of Ethernet protocols and network configuration, experience using emulators, simulation, or mock‑ups for instrumentation, experience with flow diagnostic techniques such as Schlieren, PIV, PLIF, or MTV, proficiency in PLC programming languages, active TS/SCI security clearance.
- Experience with computer‑aided design (CAD) software tools.
- Instrumentation and controls software languages (C, LabVIEW, Simulink, VxWorks, or similar).
- MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in instrumentation engineering, sensor selection, and data acquisition.
- Relocation eligible to local area – Sandusky, OH.
