Position: Front Desk Receptionist / Floating Medical Assistant

Family Health Services (FHS)is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) providing affordable, patient-centered primary care, dental, and behavioral health services across Sandusky and Norwalk, Ohio, including school-based clinics.

We are seeking a
Front Desk Receptionist / Floating Medical Assistant
to support both front office operations and clinical teams. This role requires flexibility, strong customer service skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Greet and assist patients in person and by phone.
  • Schedule appointments and verify insurance eligibility.
  • Register and check in patients; maintain accurate EMR records.
  • Collect patient payments and process documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, welcoming front office.
  • Float between clinic locations as needed for coverage.
  • Assist clinical staff with patient rooming, vitals, and exam room preparation as needed for coverage.
  • Support providers and nursing staff within scope of MA certification.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant certification required. New grads welcome.
  • Minimum one year of clerical or healthcare experience
  • Strong computer, communication, and customer service skills.
  • This job operates in a health care setting as well as within the community. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the building. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This job has frequent exposure to dust, outside exposure, cleaning agents, and animals.
