Coordinate accurate and consistent handling of patient case management and scheduling office‑based and hospital surgical procedures, including BWC. Provide quality service and support to workers comp patients, surgical patients, case managers, and adjusters. Responsible for monitoring and maintaining medical record documentation and processing throughout the surgical and BWC framework.
What You Will Do- Schedule, update, cancel and reschedule surgery cases, pre‑surgical testing and other tests for surgical services. Coordinate with the physician, office staff, and Firelands Health staff and departments in the scheduling and updating of patient appointments.
- Obtain and complete accurate documentation of informed consent with patients for procedures and surgeries.
- Provide accurate, detailed information to patients regarding pre‑surgical testing, the nature of the procedure or surgery, and all other directional information needed; take appropriate action in responding to questions from patients.
- Complete and submit BWC paperwork including electronic First Report of Injury’s (FROI) and C‑9’s. Act as liaison between clients, MCO’s/TPA’s and providers/clinics. Ensure accurate reporting to MCO’s/TPA’s.
- Conduct follow‑up calls to employers and patients, answering concerns and requests for further information.
- Schedule office visits, PT/OT visits, MRI’s, CT scans, etc. as needed while completing all paperwork for patient treatment and care.
- Complete patients FMLA and disability paperwork.
- Assist Central Billing in verifying injury and surgical diagnosis codes.
- Coordinate with staff to obtain prior authorizations and pre‑certifications for procedures, office visits, and medications.
- Verify coverage of procedures through insurance companies and communicate information to patients and clinical staff.
- High school graduate. Experience in medical ambulatory setting. Maintain CPR certification. Must be trained in medical terminology. BWC and/or surgery scheduling experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of computer software and navigating the website preferred.
- Must possess a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license and be insurable under Firelands auto policy. Employee must provide proof of personal automobile liability insurance coverage upon request.
- Successful completion of a 90‑day probationary period.
