This position assists the physician and staff in patient care and administrative duties.

General Summary

Under the supervision of the Physician/Provider, assists in minor office procedures and injections, performs patient intake assessments, discharges patients from clinic and procedures, educates patients on procedures and medication changes, and manages the message center including taking phone calls off voicemail and entering them into EHR. Calculates medication due dates based on OARRS reports and patient plan of care as established by the physician/provider.

  • Assist Physician/Provider with patient care as required.
  • Maintain patient records and prepare necessary forms for billing and prior authorization of medications if indicated.
  • Answer telephone calls and place calls as directed.
  • Document all messages.
  • Follow instructions given by the Physician/Provider.
  • Stock supplies and complete forms for needed equipment and supplies.
  • Conduct vital signs, EKGs, and pain assessment; review H&P and MAR.
  • Schedule patient visits and assist with charts.
  • Demonstrate responsibility and accountability in the profession, practice, and job.
  • Perform all work activities with respect for the rights and wishes of patients, visitors, families, and fellow employees, maintaining a pleasant quiet environment.
  • Display a positive attitude within the department and across departmental lines to contribute to the overall customer service program.

Standards of Employment
  • Attend all mandatory education programs and describe responsibilities related to general safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain a professional, neat, clean appearance and wear a proper photo‑identification badge while on duty.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all hospital and patient information at all times.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings and participate in monthly rounding with manager for effective communication.
  • Participate in required department‑specific education and training programs and describe responsibilities related to department safety and job‑related hazards.
  • Follow safety and security policies, including exposure control plans for blood borne and airborne pathogens.
