The Manager of Infection Prevention & Emergency Preparedness is responsible for providing leadership, oversight, and coordination of the hospital's infection prevention and emergency preparedness programs. Reporting directly to the Chief Nursing Officer & Vice President of Clinical Services, this position ensures compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards while promoting a culture of patient safety, regulatory readiness, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities include infection surveillance, outbreak prevention and response, policy development, staff education, emergency preparedness planning, regulatory reporting, and accreditation support.
The Director collaborates with hospital leadership, medical staff, community partners, and regulatory agencies to strengthen organizational resilience, reduce risk, and ensure preparedness for emergencies, communicable disease threats, and other hazards. This position also serves as a backup to the Director of Quality as needed.
** Qualifications
* ** Current Ohio nursing license required; RN preferred.
* Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
* Minimum of three years of healthcare experience in infection prevention, quality, emergency preparedness, or related leadership role preferred.
* Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) preferred.
* Emergency preparedness certification (CEM, CHEP, FEMA PDS, or similar) preferred.
* Knowledge of infection prevention principles, healthcare epidemiology, and healthcare-associated infection prevention strategies.
* Knowledge of CMS, accreditation, and healthcare regulatory requirements.
* Experience with emergency preparedness planning, drills, exercises, and regulatory compliance.
* Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, leaders, staff, community agencies, and regulatory partners.
* Current BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education.
** Key Responsibilities
*** Provide leadership and oversight of the hospital's infection prevention and emergency preparedness programs.
* Develop, implement, and evaluate infection prevention policies, procedures, surveillance activities, and risk reduction strategies.
* Monitor infection prevention metrics, conduct surveillance activities, and coordinate reporting to regulatory agencies as required.
* Collaborate with clinical leaders, providers, and departments to prevent healthcare-associated infections and promote evidence-based practices.
* Coordinate outbreak investigations, communicable disease response activities, and regulatory reporting requirements.
* Support employee health initiatives related to infection prevention and workforce safety.
* Develop, maintain, and evaluate the hospital's emergency preparedness plans and response procedures.
* Coordinate emergency preparedness training, drills, exercises, and after-action reviews.
* Serve as the primary liaison with local, state, and federal emergency preparedness and public health agencies.
* Conduct risk assessments and implement strategies to improve emergency readiness and organizational resilience.
* Support accreditation readiness, regulatory compliance activities, and survey preparation.
* Serve on hospital committees and interdisciplinary teams as assigned.
* Provide backup support for quality management activities as needed.
