- Responsible for nutritional care of cancer patients as outlined in federal and state regulations.
- Participates in state and federal facility inspections as needed.
- Responsible for upholding medical center policies as delineated in policy and procedure manuals. Develops nutrition related policies as needed.
- As part of the interdisciplinary team, responsible for patient assessment and plan of care according to regulations and department policy. Active participate in patient care conferences.
- Responsible for developing or obtaining patient nutrition education materials.
- Counsels patient, family, significant other or caregiver on prescribed diet and monitors adherence and response to therapy. Recommends appropriate feeding methods/formula or meal patterns (i.e. IDPN, supplements).
- Reviews monthly lab work on an individual basis and intervene as appropriate in collaboration with patient’s physician.
- Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team. Assists in development and utilization of protocols.
- Maintains current progress notes for all patients in compliance with facility policy to assure compliance with regulations and, if applicable, state regulations.
- Responsible for sharing information with entire healthcare team.
- Active member of the Cancer Committee.
- Participates in mandatory in-services and in educational programs.
- Communicates with long and short-term care facilities, home care, local nutritional programs, and sales representatives and others, as indicated.
- Participates in department performance improvement activities as assigned and attends required training.
- Registered dietitian. Prefer membership to the American Dietetic Association and/or professional members to a renal association i.e. CRN. Current state licensure.
- Must possess a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license and be insurable under Firelands' auto policy. Employee must provide proof of personal automobile liability insurance coverage upon request.
