As a leading co-manufacturer and producer of branded CPG goods, revolutionizing the industry. We're committed to high-quality, organic ingredients and delivering real, homemade taste. This unique blend of legacy expertise and a forward-thinking approach creates a dynamic environment where you can lead impactful change. If you're a passionate leader with experience in branded and/or co-manufacturing, driven by process improvement and shaping the future of production, this role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the evolving baking industry.
What You Will Do
We're looking for a Food Processing Engineer who combines practical food science fundamentals with strong process engineering skills. This role supports the scale-up, optimization, and continuous improvement of food manufacturing processes, ensuring products are safe, consistent, and manufacturable at scale.
You'll work closely with Operations, R&D, Quality, and Maintenance to translate formulas into robust production processes, applying food science principles to manage variability, shelf life, and product performance.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, optimize, and document food manufacturing processes including mixing, heating, cooling, depositing, filling, and packaging
- Apply food science fundamentals (water activity, pH, emulsions, viscosity, thermal effects, ingredient functionality) to support process design and troubleshooting
- Support product scale-up by identifying risks related to texture, stability, shelf life, and process sensitivity
- Lead process validation, capability studies, and root-cause analysis for quality or performance issues
- Partner with R&D and QA to ensure formulas are manufacturable, scalable, and compliant with food safety requirements
- Evaluate and specify process equipment such as mixers, pumps, heat exchangers, and fillers with an understanding of product rheology and sanitation needs
- Analyze process data to improve yield, throughput, and consistency
- Support new product commercialization, trials, and line commissioning
- Contribute to HACCP, GMP, and FSMA programs as they relate to process controls and product risk
You are a hands-on, problem solving, solutions-driven Process Engineer with deep expertise in food manufacturing and regulatory compliance. You understand how fats, sugars, emulsifiers, stabilizers, and thickening agents behave in real-world production environments, and you use that knowledge to build processes that are safe, consistent, and scalable. You thrive in continuous improvement, partnering with cross-functional teams to turn technical concepts into practical, high-impact manufacturing solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
- 3-7 years of experience in food manufacturing, process engineering, or food process development
- Working knowledge of food chemistry and ingredient functionality, including fats, sugars, emulsifiers, stabilizers, and thickeners
- Experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, SPC, or other continuous improvement tools in a manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with FDA, FSMA, HACCP, and GFSI expectations
- Comfortable working on the plant floor and translating technical concepts into practical solutions
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future
- Medical-Fully Subsidized
- 401K Match
- Life Insurance
- Short term disability
