Position SummaryA Nurse Practitioner is a mid‑level practitioner capable of providing healthcare services typically performed by a physician under the physician’s supervision. The NP collects patient history, performs examinations, orders and interprets diagnostic tests, and develops treatment plans. With a valid Certificate to Prescribe, the NP may prescribe medication up through schedule II‑V.
Responsibilities- Administer or order diagnostic tests (e.g., x‑ray, EKG, laboratory tests)
- Examine patients to obtain information about their physical condition
- Instruct and counsel patients regarding therapeutic regimens, growth and development, family planning, emotional issues, and health maintenance
- Interpret diagnostic test results
- Make diagnoses and decide on management and treatment of patients
- Obtain, compile, and record patient medical data, including health history, progress notes, and examination results
- Order inventory of medical and laboratory supplies and equipment
- Perform injections for analgesic and therapeutic purposes
- Perform minor surgical procedures in an office setting, such as superficial lesion removal, punch or excision biopsies
- Perform therapeutic procedures such as immunizations, phlebotomy, suturing, wound care, and infection management
- Prescribe therapy or medication
- Assist physicians during surgery or complicated medical procedures
- Supervise and coordinate activities of nurses and medical assistants
- Master’s level, Certified Nurse Practitioner in an area consistent with the population to be serviced
- Current NPI license in good standing
- Minimum of two years prior experience preferred; strong leadership, teamwork, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Eligible for a DEA number and credentialing
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read, write, and perform complex arithmetic with small letters and numbers
- Ability to work safely, maintain an accident‑free workplace, and understand medical emergency codes
