The Ohio Veterans Homes, part of Ohio Department of Veterans Services, are trauma‑informed, long‑term care facilities focused on providing excellent care to Ohio’s Veterans. The Veteran Homes provide direct nursing home care at facilities in Sandusky and Georgetown as well as domiciliary living to qualified veterans in Sandusky. Benefits- Starting Hourly Pay: $23.28 per hour ($48,422 annually)
- 1st Raise in 6 Months: increase to $23.65 per hour
- $500 bonus after 120 days and another $500 bonus after one year

- Assist with eating, bathing, toileting, personal hygiene, oral hygiene, dressing, grooming, communications, and feeding.
- Transport and attend activities or programs with residents.
- Complete various daily, monthly, and other required documentation.
- Observe and report any changes in symptoms, behaviors, accidents, incidents or injuries to charge nurse.
- Perform light housekeeping duties in the living areas.
- Apply safety and infection control measures.
- Assist with redirecting unsafe actions to bring about positive outcomes.
- Assist nursing personnel with admission, discharge & transfer of residents.
- Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction, and in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary.
- For positions in Developmental Disabilities, must possess a high school diploma or a certificate of high school equivalence pursuant to Ohio Administrative Code 5123:2-3-01(F) (1) (c).
- For positions at Veteran Services, must possess STNA certification and/or be listed on the Ohio Nurse Aide Registry.
- For positions requiring operation of motor vehicle, a valid driver’s license is required.
- Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
May be required to stand for extended periods of time; may be required to lift heavy objects from time to time; may be exposed to a variety of bodily fluids and infectious diseases from residents; and may be required to work weekends and mandatory overtime.
