The Veteran Homes provide direct nursing home care at facilities in Sandusky and Georgetown as well as domiciliary living to qualified veterans in Sandusky.   • Starting Hourly Pay: $23.28 per hour ($48,422 annually)

Responsibilities
  • Assist with eating, bathing, toileting, personal hygiene, oral hygiene, dressing, grooming, communications, and feeding.
  • Transport and attend activities or programs with residents.
  • Complete various daily, monthly, and other required documentation.
  • Observe and report any changes in symptoms, behaviors, accidents, incidents or injuries to charge nurse.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties in the living areas.
  • Apply safety and infection control measures.
  • Assist with redirecting unsafe actions to bring about positive outcomes.
  • Assist nursing personnel with admission, discharge & transfer of residents.
Qualifications
  • Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction, and in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary.
  • For positions in Developmental Disabilities, must possess a high school diploma or a certificate of high school equivalence pursuant to Ohio Administrative Code 5123:2-3-01(F) (1) (c).
  • For positions at Veteran Services, must possess STNA certification and/or be listed on the Ohio Nurse Aide Registry.
  • For positions requiring operation of motor vehicle, a valid driver’s license is required.
  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
Unusual Working Conditions

May be required to stand for extended periods of time; may be required to lift heavy objects from time to time; may be exposed to a variety of bodily fluids and infectious diseases from residents; and may be required to work weekends and mandatory overtime.
