- Under the direction of the Director, Education Services coordinates the development, implementation and evaluation of all clinical nursing education initiatives and programs to continually support and enhance the professional development of all bedside nurse.
- Leads and coordinates Clinical Nurse Educators and clinical affiliation rotations.
- Conducts and participates in needs analyses to determine clinical staff education gaps.
- Designs, organizes, and monitors clinical nursing education programs for the Medical Center nursing staff to meet evidence based clinical standards.
- Champions the clinical spirit of inquiry for evidence-based practice and maintains clinical proficiency.
- Collaboratively develops instructional activities to ensure high quality new hire orientation and ongoing professional development.
- Monitors and maintains evaluation of new hires and current staff; keeps Nurse Directors informed of same and highlights any noticeable deviations from standard. Works directly with each Nurse Director on a routine and PRN basis.
- Serves as a resource person, role model and change agent at the bedside for clinical staff while demonstrating professional accountability.
- Participates/coordinates in new equipment and/or process change initiatives including selection, integration and evaluation.
- Provides current, direct, complete, professional and actionable positive and corrective feedback to others. Uses relationship building communication.
- Responsible for maintenance of records/reports required for accreditation standards; recommends timely record management changes as required.
- Responsible for compiling and submitting updates and reports to the Director, Education Services.
- Conducts regular meetings/communications with focus on departmental and organizational education
DRIVE FOR RESULTS:
- Critically examines and questions the rationale and scientific basis for clinical practice and/or changes in practice
- Identifies evidence-based practice/research findings with potential implications for changing clinical practice.
- Serves as a resource and mentor in evidence-based discussions articulating rationale for practice.
MANAGERIAL COURAGE:
- Accountable for current, direct, complete, and actionable positive and corrective feedback to others.
- Addresses problems with any person or situation quickly and directly, taking corrective action when necessary.
- Relays information to administrative level as needed.
- Graduate of accredited Registered Nurse program, BSN required, MSN and certification preferred; unencumbered licensed to practice professional nursing in the State of Ohio. AHA instructor statuses highly encouraged.
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS and chemo certification. If PALS certification is not current, it must be obtained within 6 months.
- Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and supervise diverse work team.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and sound knowledge and skills base in clinical area, with at least three years leadership experience.
- Successful completion of a ninety (90) day probationary period.
