The Commissioning Manager partners closely with project teams, clients, vendors, and third-party commissioning agents to deliver high-quality outcomes while mitigating risk and maintaining schedule integrity.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
- Serve as the primary commissioning lead for assigned projects, owning execution from planning through final turnover.
- Manage commissioning planning efforts, including readiness assessments, systemization, and turnover strategies.
- Coordinate and lead commissioning activities, including system testing, integrated systems testing, and final validation.
- Facilitate meetings with project teams, subcontractors, vendors, clients, and third-party commissioning agents (CxA).
- Identify and proactively mitigate risks related to testing, schedule, system readiness, and turnover.
- Drive completion of all commissioning deliverables, including documentation, reports, and deficiency tracking.
- Oversee and manage deficiency resolution to ensure systems meet performance and quality standards.
- Collaborate with Project Management, Field Operations, and QA/QC teams to align commissioning with overall project execution.
- Mentor and support the development of Commissioning Coordinators and Engineers as the team scales.
- Operate independently with minimal oversight while maintaining alignment with company standards and expectations.
- Ensure compliance with client requirements, industry standards, and Megawatt Construction commissioning protocols.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
- 5-10+ years of experience in commissioning, QA/QC, MEP systems, or mission-critical construction environments.
- Experience leading commissioning efforts on complex or high-visibility projects, preferably within data centers or similar critical infrastructure.
- Strong technical understanding of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems, including testing and integrated systems validation.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and operate independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior team members is preferred.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
