Long-Term Sub - School Counselor

Sandwich Middle High School seeks qualified applicants to fill a Long Term Substitute-School Counselor position for grades 9-12 for the  school year.

A school counselor works to maximize student success, promoting access and equity for all students. As vital members of the school leadership team, school counselors create a school culture of success for all.

Qualifications:

• DESE Certification required.
• Have experience and passion for working with students
• Have the ability and initiative to work independently and collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team including school educators, specialists, administrators, family and community partners and possess strong counseling/clinical skills and a passion for continued learning and professional development.

As a school counselor, you will help all students:

* Apply academic achievement strategies

* Manage emotions and apply interpersonal skills

* Plan for postsecondary options (higher education, military, workforce)

Active duties include, but are not limited to:

* Individual student academic planning and goal setting

* School counseling classroom lessons based on student success standards

* Short-term counseling to students

* Referrals for long-term support

* Collaboration with families/teachers/administrators/community for student success

* Advocacy for students at individual education plan meetings and other student-focused meetings

* Data analysis to identify student issues, needs, and challenges

* Acting as a systems change agent to improve equity and access, achievement, and opportunities for all students

FY27 LTS Daily Rate of Pay: BA Step 1 = $331.24 per day.
