Sandwich Middle High School seeks qualified applicants to fill a Long Term Substitute‑School Counselor position for grades 9-12 for the 2026‑2027 school year.

A school counselor works to maximize student success, promoting access and equity for all students. As vital members of the school leadership team, school counselors create a school culture of success for all.

• DESE Certification required.
• Have experience and passion for working with students.
• Have the ability and initiative to work independently and collaboratively with a multi‑disciplinary team including school educators, specialists, administrators, family and community partners and possess strong counseling/clinical skills and a passion for continued learning and professional development.

As a school counselor, you will help all students:

• Apply academic achievement strategies.
• Manage emotions and apply interpersonal skills.
• Plan for postsecondary options (higher education, military, workforce).

Active duties include, but are not limited to:

• Individual student academic planning and goal setting.
• School counseling classroom lessons based on student success standards.
• Short‑term counseling to students.
• Referrals for long‑term support.
• Collaboration with families, teachers, administrators, and community for student success.
• Advocacy for students at individual education plan meetings and other student‑focused meetings.
• Data analysis to identify student issues, needs, and challenges.
• Acting as a systems change agent to improve equity and access, achievement, and opportunities for all students.

FY27 LTS Daily Rate of Pay: BA Step 1 = $331.24 per day.
