Reports To: Senior Project Manager / Project Executive

Position Summary

The MEP Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, execution, and commercial management of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection (MEPF) systems on data center construction projects. This role ensures MEP scope is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements, quality standards, and client expectations.

Working closely with project leadership, field teams, design consultants, commissioning teams, owners, and trade partners, the MEP Project Manager oversees the delivery of all MEP activities from preconstruction through commissioning and final project turnover.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management
  • Manage all aspects of MEP project delivery from procurement through closeout.
  • Develop and implement MEP execution strategies aligned with project objectives.
  • Coordinate activities between field operations, design teams, owners, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Monitor project performance and proactively resolve technical, commercial, and schedule issues.
  • Support successful project commissioning and client handover.
  • Manage MEP budgets, forecasts, cost reporting, and financial performance.
  • Review subcontractor contracts, change orders, and payment applications.
  • Evaluate and negotiate change management, claims, and scope revisions.
  • Monitor procurement activities and equipment delivery to support project schedules.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and performance.
Schedule Management
  • Develop and maintain MEP schedules in collaboration with project teams.
  • Monitor progress against key project milestones.
  • Identify schedule risks and implement mitigation or recovery plans.
  • Coordinate critical path activities, including equipment energization, startup, and commissioning.
Quality & Commissioning
  • Ensure MEP systems comply with project specifications, applicable codes, and quality standards.
  • Support QA/QC processes, inspections, testing, and turnover documentation.
  • Coordinate commissioning activities, integrated systems testing, and owner acceptance.
  • Ensure timely resolution of deficiencies and punch list items.
Safety & Leadership
  • Promote a strong safety culture and support compliance with OSHA and project safety requirements.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and support to MEP Superintendents, Project Engineers, and field teams.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with clients, consultants, and trade partners.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of commercial construction experience, including experience managing MEP scopes on large-scale projects.
  • Previous mission critical or data center experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience managing MEP subcontractors, budgets, schedules, and client relationships.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong understanding of commercial MEP systems, construction practices, and project delivery.
  • Knowledge of mission critical infrastructure including electrical distribution, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and building automation systems.
  • Experience with commissioning processes and integrated systems testing.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, procurement, and contract administration.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
Certifications:

Preferred
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction
  • PMP (Project Management Professional)
  • LEED Accreditation (preferred)
  • Commissioning or mission critical training
Success in this role is measured by:
  • Delivery of MEP scope safely, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Achievement of project quality and commissioning milestones.
  • Effective management of subcontractors, contracts, and project risks.
  • Accurate financial forecasting and cost control.
  • Successful client relationships and project turnover.
  • Delivery of operationally ready facilities that meet owner expectations.
