Position Summary
To provide a comprehensive counseling program that supports students’ academic success and social-emotional wellness while collaborating with teachers, staff, and parents to help each child thrive. Provide a program that supports school activities and educational programs. This position will begin on August 1, 2026.
Specific Duties Include- Adhere to ASCA Mindsets & Behaviors and ASCA ethical standards.
- Provide classroom lessons, small-group counseling, and individual counseling that support students’ academic, career, and social-emotional development.
- Implement and promote a comprehensive school counseling program for all students and clearly communicate the program to internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with counselors across the Academy to ensure consistency and alignment of counseling practices and programming.
- Consult with and support teachers, parents, and staff regarding student needs and appropriate interventions.
- Partner with and refer families to appropriate community resources and support services.
- Participate in conferences and meetings related to student development, well-being, and achievement with parents, students, teachers, and administrators.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the counseling program and support ongoing program improvement.
- Engage in ongoing professional learning and development.
- Coordinate and support standardized testing processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Proficiency in leveraging technology to support teaching and learning, including Microsoft Office, Google applications, language lab software, and interactive whiteboard technology.
- A joyful, compassionate, and student-centered approach, with a strong commitment to serving a diverse community and fostering access and inclusivity.
- A collaborative and team-oriented professional mindset.
- Warmth, empathy, flexibility, and an appropriate sense of humor.
- Master's degree in School Counseling.
- Demonstrated proficiency with technology and productivity tools, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Google applications such as Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive.
- Strong organizational, communication, and technology skills, with the ability to effectively integrate digital tools into daily responsibilities.
- Previous teaching or school-based experience is preferred.
- Independent school experience is preferred, but not required.
The School Counselor, Primary School position is an exempt, 10-month position.
