Environmental Engineer
Processes all requests to locate water and sewer lines and locates distribution and collection lines to prevent damage during excavations.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesInclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Retrieves, evaluates, prioritizes, and clears requests to locate water and sewer lines.
- Utilizes precise methodologies to accurately identify and mark the location of water mains.
- Operates sophisticated electronic locating equipment, including GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar), Vivax 810, and metal detectors, to enhance precision in identifying and tracing water lines and associated infrastructure.
- Maintains meticulous records of water line locates, capturing details such as the lines' depth, type, and condition. Provides regular reports detailing the results of water line locating activities.
- Adheres to stringent quality assurance measures to verify the accuracy of water line locates.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory standards and industry guidelines.
- Works collaboratively with various HCWA departments to fulfill in-house locating requirements.
- Engages in effective communication and coordination with various HCWA departments.
- Engages in continuous professional development in order to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of water line locating skills.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Computer SkillsTo perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of GIS mapping software.
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsValid Georgia Driver's License. Flagging Certification, Competent Person Certification, and Confined Space Certification preferred or ability to obtain within twelve (12) months from date of hire.
