Operations Manager
Role Overview
Immatics is seeking an experienced Director of Facilities, Engineering & Maintenance to lead the infrastructure and engineering operations that power our next‑generation cell therapy manufacturing environments. This role is instrumental in ensuring our highly specialized GMP facilities can support clinical manufacturing, operational scalability, and future commercial readiness for innovative cancer immunotherapies. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in regulated biopharmaceutical operations with strong leadership, operational excellence, and the ability to scale complex infrastructure in a high‑growth environment.
BasicQualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related field)
- 10+ years of experience in facilities engineering and maintenance within biotech, pharmaceutical, or other GMP‑regulated environments
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing engineering or facility operations teams
- Demonstrated experience leading GMP facility projects (e.g., startup, expansion, or upgrades) and managing critical utilities and cleanroom operations
- Proven experience ensuring compliance with GMP regulations, audits/inspections, and managing external contractors and capital projects
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related discipline
- Experience in commercial‑stage cGMP manufacturing environments
- Experience in cell therapy, biologics, or advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs)
- Certification in Project Management (PMP), Facilities Management (CFM), or similar
- Experience with advanced systems (e.g., BMS/EMS, MES, LIMS, ERP, automation, digital maintenance platforms)
- Advanced expertise in reliability engineering, risk management, and large‑scale infrastructure planning in regulated environments
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross‑functional initiatives in high‑growth settings
- Lead facility engineering and maintenance strategy to support GMP manufacturing, R&D operations, and company growth
- Oversee operation, maintenance, and lifecycle management of critical systems (e.g., HVAC, clean rooms, utilities, automation)
- Ensure facility compliance with regulatory standards and maintain audit and inspection readiness
- Drive capital planning, facility expansion projects, and infrastructure scaling for commercial manufacturing
- Partner cross‑functionally on deviations, CAPAs, change controls, and validation activities
- Manage external vendors, contractors, and budgets to deliver projects on time and within scope
- Build and lead a high‑performing engineering team while driving continuous improvement, safety, and operational excellence
