License and Certification Qualifications- Valid Georgia driver's license Required
- H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree or equivalent Required
- Bachelor's Degree in related field Preferred
- 5 years energy management system operations or related field experience Required
- Extensive energy management experience Preferred
- High degree of technical competence in the areas of energy management and automated control systems
- Ability to analyze and solve problems
- Ability to translate user and system needs and problems into creative solutions
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to communicate effectively and work well with customers, maintenance craftsmen, and contractors/vendors
- Ability to analyze existing processes and identify areas for improvement
Provide technical assistance and guidance to the Energy Manager in the area of building automation and control while maintaining the highest level of standards for HVAC and indoor air quality for building occupants.
- Utilize and maintain the computerized energy management system to research and resolve customer complaints.
- Work with HVAC technicians to maintain HVAC equipment systemwide and ensure all equipment is running effectively.
- Oversee the processing of the school HVAC electronic schedule requests for after-hours use.
- Create and implement work orders, projects, procedures, and new initiatives with the Energy Manager, Facilities and Operations Area Manager, Dispatcher, and other district personnel.
- Collaborate with other skilled technicians to achieve the goals of the Building Maintenance Department.
- Evaluate, monitor, and track indoor air quality on a routine basis for the Building Maintenance Department.
- Oversee the conduction of value engineering by reviewing bid packages (i.e. prints and specifications) for all new schools and additions.
- Evaluate and monitor Energy Management System (EMS) controls and operations of HVAC and electrical and plumbing systems prior to customer occupancy of new school or addition.
- Interact with contractors, district personnel, and other outside personnel to achieve goals of the Building Maintenance Department.
- Evaluate and review the controls and equipment for better sequence of operations for the Building Maintenance Department.
- Analyze, review, and price EMS projects for building maintenance implementation.
- Provide continuous quality improvement to departmental processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, negotiate stairs, climb ladders, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear, manipulate tools and small items with hands, and lift and transport up to 50 pounds over short distances. The employee is required to operate a motor vehicle in performance of duties. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
The employee may be subjected to a wide range of ambient temperature and humidity conditions while working on equipment under varying conditions including overhead work and work in confined spaces. Potential hazards of this position include working with electricity, working with heat and noise producing machinery and equipment, working on elevated equipment using ladders or other lifting devices, and use of chemicals and solvents.
