Position Overview
Brown Brothers Harriman is currently recruiting a Commodities & Logistics (“C & L”) Banker to join our Capital Partners business. In this role, the C & L Banker will build the Firm’s relationships with privately owned businesses and their owners in the Commodities and Logistics space, acting as an ambassador for all aspects of BBH’s Capital Partners business and developing, maintaining, and growing multi-generational relationships with successful family-owned businesses and their owners.
The Banker will establish robust internal and external networks to support business development and collaborate closely with colleagues in BBH’s Multi-Family Office, Corporate Advisory, and Private Equity groups.
The C & L Banker will serve as the quarterback for relationships with corporate clients, working closely with other areas of BBH Capital Partners and serving as a trusted advisor to business owner-clients and prospects. The role requires a corporate finance generalist perspective, strong knowledge of capital markets, capital structure, mergers and acquisitions, industry dynamics, and commercial lending, and a long-term strategic approach to client engagement.
The Banker will also be the lending product expert within the Commodities and Logistics Group, responsible for monitoring credit quality, working with BBH’s Credit Team and banking analysts to ensure proper credit administration, documentation, and follow-up.
Additionally, the C & L Banker will contribute to longer-term projects within BBH Capital Partners designed to promote business within the Commodities and Logistics industry in collaboration with colleagues from other disciplines within the business.
Key Responsibilities- Establish and deepen relationships with private businesses and their owners using a corporate finance advisory perspective
- Market the BBH Capital Partners value proposition and the full suite of BBH services, including lending, private wealth management, and private equity
- Evaluate new strategic credit opportunities
- Convert prospect relationships to BBH Capital Partners clients
- Build a broad network of intermediaries and industry contacts/influencers
- Deepen relationships with existing clients so BBH becomes a trusted advisor to the owners using a corporate finance mindset
- Convert lending and/or advisory relationships to wealth management relationships
- Ensure the highest standard of credit administration through thorough credit analysis
- Work with banking analysts to ensure thorough and timely credit reviews are prepared, proper documentation is maintained, and required financial information is received
- BA/BS from a highly selective university. MBA, CFA, or formal corporate finance/credit training preferred, but not required
- 8–12 years of financial services experience, preferably in corporate lending, corporate finance, or mergers and acquisitions
- Broad and deep credit, investing, and corporate finance knowledge
- Knowledge of financial markets
- Interpersonal maturity, confidence, and poise
- Strong organizational and written/oral communication skills
NY:
Base salary $140,000–$190,000 plus annual incentive.
BBH and its affiliates’ compensation program includes base salary, discretionary bonuses, and profit‑sharing.
