Application architect, IT​/Tech, Systems Engineer

Application Architect – Remote (Eastern Time)

Salary: $160,000 - $170,000 per year

• Translate business requirements into technical design specifications for applications.
• Work directly with development teams to implement designs and deliver solutions into production.
• Communicate department standards and best practices and ensure they are reflected in the applications.
• Design, document, program, and support Agency Compensation applications that process commission calculations and payments for financial product sales.
• Interface Agency Compensation applications with Web Applications.
• Analyze current systems to resolve new and/or existing problems.
• Evaluate technical feasibility of proposed system solutions, prepare project proposals, and develop or modify systems to meet business needs.
• Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and may lead or direct the work of other developers or projects.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 10 years programming, analysis, or IT experience.
• Participation in major system projects with proficiency in at least one development discipline/platform.
• Experience in project life cycle phases including analysis, design, programming, and implementation.

• Highly competent in processes involved in systems analysis and use of appropriate tools for resolution.
• Understanding design factors, system capacities, hardware and software requirements, coding, testing, and debugging programs.
• Excellent verbal and communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a dynamic work environment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, working well with subordinates, peers, and management.

Required Skills:

• Highly proficient in COBOL, DB2, CICS, and JCL in a z/OS environment.
• Proficient in establishing CICS table entries for new programs, transactions, and files.
• Experience in Assembler Language preferred.
• Experience in project life cycle phases including analysis, design, programming, and implementation.
• Excellent organization, verbal, and written communications skills.
• Advanced interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
