Full Time Technician – Sandy Springs, GA, US

The City of Sandy Springs is seeking a highly motivated, Full‑Time IT Support Specialist who thrives on solving problems, supporting others, and ensuring technology runs seamlessly. This role is more than a help desk position – it is an opportunity to directly support the operations of City Hall, public safety departments, and the employees who serve our community every day.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide onsite and remote technical support for hardware, software, networking, and mobile devices
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain PCs, laptops, and peripherals
  • Troubleshoot Windows systems and support Microsoft 365, with emphasis on Outlook and Microsoft Teams
  • Support mobile device setup and troubleshooting
  • Maintain network connectivity and diagnose equipment issues
  • Manage and document service requests through a ticketing system
  • Deliver courteous, timely, and effective customer service
  • Provide end‑user training as needed
  • Participate in rotating on‑call coverage during non‑business hours
  • Assist with new technology deployments and IT projects
  • Support critical systems for public safety departments
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in a related field
  • Two (2) years of relevant IT support experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Ability to pass Police Department background check and fingerprinting prior to employment
  • Valid Georgia driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Cloud+, or comparable certification
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, integrity, flexibility, and initiative
Technical Expertise
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and basic networking principles
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft 365 (especially Outlook and Microsoft Teams)
  • Experience supporting Windows desktops and laptops
  • Experience with macOS in a managed enterprise environment (a plus)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Teams Phone systems and office equipment
  • Experience using service ticketing systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Physical Requirements
