Your Work Matters The Senior Configurator II, Workday leads advanced Workday security configuration, solution design, governance, system optimization, and production support across the Workday ecosystem. This role serves as a senior functional and technical security resource, partnering with HR, IT, Payroll, Talent, Compensation, Benefits, Recruiting, Internal Audit, Compliance, and business stakeholders to design and maintain scalable, sustainable, and compliant security solutions.
This position translates business and access requirements into effective Workday security configuration, evaluates upstream and downstream impacts, resolves complex security and configuration issues, and ensures solutions align with least-privilege principles, segregation of duties, enterprise governance, regulatory requirements, and the broader HR technology roadmap. The role operates with a high degree of ownership across the Workday security lifecycle while contributing to continuous improvement and other Workday or HR technology projects as business needs and skill set allow.
- Lead Workday security configuration, administration, and solution design across Core HCM and related functional areas, including Talent, Performance, Compensation, Recruiting, Absence, Time Tracking, Benefits, Payroll, Reporting, and integrations.
- Configure and maintain Workday security groups, domain and business process security policies, role assignments, and access permissions to ensure appropriate, consistent, and sustainable system access.
- Partner with HR, IT, Internal Audit, Compliance, and business stakeholders to gather access requirements, evaluate business needs, and translate them into scalable security solutions aligned to least-privilege, need-to-know, and segregation-of-duties principles. Perform security impact assessments for configuration changes, business process updates, reorganizations, new functionality, integrations, reporting changes, releases, and enterprise initiatives to ensure security requirements are incorporated into solution design and release readiness.
- Review, troubleshoot, and resolve complex Workday security issues, including inappropriate or missing access, inherited permissions, role assignments, business process access, domain access, security conflicts, incidents, and configuration issues; perform root cause analysis and recommend sustainable corrective and preventative solutions.
- Support recurring Workday access reviews and security audits, identifying excessive, conflicting, outdated, or inconsistent access and partnering with stakeholders on remediation. Develop and maintain Workday security governance standards and documentation, including design principles, naming conventions, role definitions, approval requirements, testing expectations, change controls, support procedures, permissions, design decisions, risks, dependencies, and controls.
- Support joiner, mover, and leaver security processes and identify opportunities to automate, strengthen, and standardize access provisioning and deprovisioning.
- Identify opportunities to reduce security complexity, eliminate redundant or overly broad access, standardize user experiences, improve long‑term supportability, and support continuous improvement across the Workday ecosystem.
- Assist with other Workday, HR technology, or cross‑functional projects as business needs arise and skill set allows.
- 5+ years of Workday experience, including 3+ years of hands‑on Workday security configuration or advanced Workday configuration experience.
