Position: Assistant Project Manager 2

Join a great employee‑owned Company with an even greater culture! Albion General Contractors is searching for an Assistant Project Manager 2. The Assistant Project Manager 2 will be key in providing hands‑on support to ensure client satisfaction and seamless project execution. The individual would be either currently based in the Charlotte, NC area or must commit to temporarily relocating or weekly travel to the Charlotte, NC area for the project assignment.

The individual in this role will assist Field Managers, Project Managers, and Senior Project Managers in understanding the project scope to make the best buy‑out decisions. Uses basic negotiation skills with owners and subcontractors; utilizes cost forecasting and understands scopes of work. Demonstrated ability to complete a standard project independently, manage moderate client expectations, run effective client meetings, and negotiate deals with subcontractors.

Has been assigned and run small/medium jobs and will manage a project’s day‑to‑day operations and lead junior team members.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Lead the development and maintenance of project schedules, ensuring tasks are completed on time and within budget.
  • Ensure that project deliverables meet client expectations and regulatory requirements, maintaining a high standard of quality.
  • Assist in managing project costs, identifying potential cost overruns, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Review and approve invoices, change orders, and payment requests from subcontractors and vendors.
  • Directly manage subcontracts, including drafting and negotiating terms, schedule coordination, and confirming compliance with contract specifications.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for external stakeholders.
  • Participate in project meetings, making recommendations and decisions based on project needs and team discussion.
  • Conduct consistent and timely quality control review of work in progress, ensuring all work complies with project plans, specifications, and safety standards.
  • Assist the PM with contract negotiations, risk management, and project execution strategies.
  • Develop portions of and review project schedules; create smaller schedules or adapt schedule milestones into workable plans.
  • Utilize basic cost forecasting skills and maintain a three‑week look‑ahead schedule.
  • Communicate schedule phases to trade partners effectively.
  • Hold trade partners accountable to project requirements, safety, quality, scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Work well with others, demonstrating solid communication, partnership, and a positive team spirit.
  • Mindful of safety requirements and enforce accountability where applicable.
