Job Summary:
The RN Clinical Nurse Critical Care is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized high‑quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders, and are supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The framework for practice is steered by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, evidence‑based practice, and research.
RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the Wellstar Values. It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses in Critical Care are licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nursing Practice Act and the American Nurses Association Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics. As a member of the patient services team, the individual upholds the voice of the patient, system policies and procedures while supporting service excellence goals.
Essential Functions:
- Exemplary Practice and Outcomes: Performs the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation) using evidence‑based practice; utilizes analytical/critical thinking to ensure individualized care; coordinates care through effective partnerships; practices using current clinical practice standards.
- Teamwork and
Collaboration:
Coordinates safe, quality patient care delivery and documentation; maintains inclusive interdisciplinary communication; promotes fiscal responsibility and recruitment/retention of healthcare team members; participates in performance improvement initiatives and shared governance. - Professional Development and Initiative: Completes initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and required education; serves as a preceptor/mentor for professional nurses and staff/students to build a qualified workforce and healthy work environment.
- Evidence‑Based Practice and Research: Promotes evidence‑based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement; participates in value analysis and data collection; consults experts and uses appropriate resources to address practice questions.
- Resources and Support: Plans and manages care across the continuum; develops protocols and procedures with the care team to achieve best‑practice outcomes; supports efficient use of human and material resources.
- Performs other duties as assigned; complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
- Associate’s Nursing or Diploma (Nurse);
Bachelor’s Nursing preferred.
- RN – Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN‑COMPACT – RN (Multi‑state Compact)
- BLS – Basic Life Support or ARC‑BLS – American Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS‑I – Basic Life Support – Instructor
- ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support or ARC‑ALS – American Red Cross Advanced Life Support or ACLS‑I – ACLS – Instructor or ACLS‑P – ACLS – Provisional (within 180 days)
Minimum Experience:
Experience with direct patient care preferred. Less than 1 year completion of an accredited/approved school of nursing with required clinical hours is required.
Required MinimumSkills:
Ability to read, write and speak English; proficiency in technology to support clinical care; basic computer skills; strong interpersonal, collaborative, and customer service skills; ability to function in a fast‑paced environment and respond decisively to emergencies; excellent time‑management and critical‑thinking skills.
