As an Emergency Veterinary Assistant or Technician
, you will be a critical member of the overnight team, supporting veterinarians and credentialed technicians in delivering high-quality emergency and critical care. This role requires strong technical proficiency, sound judgment, and the ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations.

As an integral part of our emergency team, you’ll play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities include:
- Triage and assist with emergency examinations and treatments
- Obtain patient histories, vitals, and presenting concerns
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and emergency therapies as directed
- Place and maintain IV catheters; assist with venipuncture and sample preparation
- Monitor anesthesia and assist with surgical and emergency procedures
- Provide advanced nursing care for hospitalized and ICU patients
- Perform and process diagnostics including:
- Digital radiography
- Bloodwork and laboratory testing
- Urinalysis and basic cytology
- Accurately maintain medical records and treatment logs
- Provide clear, compassionate client communication during emotionally charged situations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked treatment environment
- Collaborate closely with veterinarians and team members to support optimal patient outcomes
- This is not an entry-level position
- Minimum of 2–4+ years of hands-on clinical veterinary experience required
- Prior experience in emergency, critical care, surgery, or anesthesia strongly preferred
- Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT/LVT/RVT) preferred, but highly skilled Veterinary Assistants with advanced technical experience will be considered
- Demonstrated proficiency in:
- Multitasking in a high-acuity environment
- Strong communication, teamwork, and critical-thinking skills
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and compassionate under pressure
- Physical ability to lift, restrain, and stand for extended periods
