Retail Assistant Store Manager - Merrell

As an Assistant Manager, you are always on hand to resolve issues and identify fresh ways of doing things. You are loyal and passionate about your customers and your team. This role plays an integral support role to the Store Manager in managing overall operations, driving sales alongside KPIs, and leading and developing a cohesive team that can deliver memorable experiences for all our consumers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Be a role model – motivate and engage your team to bring to life the brand values every day, while fostering an inclusive and positive working atmosphere and celebrating success.
  • Deliver outstanding service to all customers and demonstrate role‑model behaviours for the whole team.
  • Assist in driving sales, maintaining commercial standards, and ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Communicate efficiently on the floor and behind the scenes, developing and maintaining relationships across the business, with customers and community partners.
  • Partner with the Store Manager to generate innovative and engaging marketing ideas.
  • Take ownership of stock management and visual merchandising, contributing to and delivering on store KPIs.
  • As the product expert and trainer, educate your team and advise customers.
  • Foster a supportive, productive, and inclusive environment that promotes teamwork and accountability.
  • Support the store management team in all aspects of running the store: opening and closing, cash handling, stock control, merchandising, and maintaining a clean, well‑presented store.
  • Create amazing experiences for customers through authentic service that leaves a lasting impression.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, including health and safety regulations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
  • Previous experience working in a fast‑paced, customer‑facing environment.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience preferred, but not essential.
  • Flexible and adaptable, comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Flexible schedule and availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Passion for our brands and brand lifestyles.
  • Self‑starter and ambitious – motivated to achieve and exceed store targets for your team and store.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks at once.
