Sr. Python Full Stack Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Python Full Stack Dev Ops Engineer to join our platform engineering team. In this role, you will be the connective tissue between cloud infrastructure, scalable backend systems, and data-intensive applications that power critical workflows in the healthcare and life sciences sector. You will own the design, deployment, and continuous improvement of serverless architectures on AWS, and collaborate closely with data science, product, and clinical teams to build systems that are reliable, secure, and compliant with industry standards.

Python 3.x, AWS Lambda, FastAPI / Flask, React / Next.js, Terraform / CDK, S3 / Glue / Athena, DynamoDB / RDS, API Gateway, Docker / ECS / EKS, Git Hub Actions, CI/CD Pipelines, HIPAA Compliance, HL7 / FHIR

• Design and deploy cloud-native, serverless applications on AWS using Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, Event Bridge, and SQS/SNS.
• Architect and maintain scalable data pipelines handling high-volume clinical and operational datasets using S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift, and DynamoDB.
• Build full-stack features spanning Python backend services and React frontends, ensuring seamless integration with cloud infrastructure.
• Lead infrastructure-as-code initiatives using Terraform and/or AWS CDK; enforce cloud cost optimization and security best practices.
• Own CI/CD pipeline development and maintenance across Git Hub Actions, Code Pipeline, or equivalent tooling; champion Dev Ops culture and automation.
• Ensure systems meet HIPAA, SOC 2, and relevant regulatory standards; contribute to audit readiness and compliance documentation.
• Participate in on-call rotations; drive incident response, root cause analysis, and blameless post-mortems.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to architecture reviews, technical roadmaps, and engineering standards.

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong Python development across both backend services and infrastructure automation.
• Demonstrated expertise with AWS services:
  Lambda, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, RDS (PostgreSQL/Aurora), Step Functions, IAM, Cloud Watch, and related serverless stack.
• Hands-on experience designing and operating data-heavy systems — ETL pipelines, data lakes, stream processing, or real-time analytics at scale.
• Infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform, AWS CDK, or Cloud Formation; understanding of networking (VPC, security groups, load balancing).
• Proven CI/CD pipeline design and ownership across multiple environments (dev/staging/prod) with robust testing and rollback strategies.
• Containerization expertise with Docker; experience with ECS Fargate or EKS for container orchestration.
• Strong understanding of security principles in cloud environments: secrets management (AWS Secrets Manager / Parameter Store), least-privilege IAM, encryption at rest and in transit.
• Excellent communication skills; ability to translate complex technical concepts for cross-functional stakeholders.

• Prior work in Med Tech, Pharma, Clinical Trials, Hospital Technology, or Digital Health environments is a significant differentiator. Familiarity with HL7, FHIR, DICOM, or EDI healthcare data standards is highly valued.
• Experience with real-time data streaming platforms such as Apache Kafka, AWS Kinesis, or MSK.
• Familiarity with ML/AI integration patterns — MLflow, Sage Maker, or similar model deployment and monitoring workflows.
• Exposure to regulatory compliance frameworks: HIPAA, GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, or SOC 2 Type II.
• AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, Developer, or Dev Ops Engineer — Associate or Professional).
• Experience with observability tooling:
  Datadog, New Relic, Open Telemetry, or AWS X-Ray.
