Position Summary


The Transportation Supervisor for Regular Education oversees student transportation services and activities, manages staff, provides important information to others, and ensures work assignments are scheduled and completed on time and according to set standards.



Minimum Requirements



EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:

  • Valid Georgia Commercial Driver’s License with S and P endorsements within 90 days of hire
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint
  • Background Clearance
  • State Department of Education medical examination


WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum four (4) years’ experience with a degree or eight (8) years’ experience without a degree

  • Skills-based Competencies
Required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including pertinent software applications; planning and managing projects; budgeting and financial management; and developing effective working relationships.

Required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: state and federal guidelines related to school transportation; personnel processes; pertinent codes, policies, regulations, and/or laws; education code; and budget management and accounting.

Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. work with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate to significant. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with parents, school personnel, and staff;

meeting deadlines and schedules; working as part of a team; flexible to changing conditions; making quick and accurate decisions; dealing with frequent interruptions and changing priorities; and maintaining confidentiality.

Duties


ESSENTIAL DUTIES (Generally ranges from 5-10 bullet points)

  • Assesses incidents, complaints, and accidents to resolve or recommend resolutions.
  • Conducts regular inspections to ensure work quality, performance, and staff adherence to standards.
  • Coordinates with district personnel to implement and maintain services and programs.
  • Directs department personnel to prioritize deadlines and ensure efficient use of staff.
  • Implements assigned activities and projects to meet established guidelines and deliver services.
  • Maintains inventory of cleaning, office, and first aid supplies to ensure availability and a safe, clean environment.
  • Maintains personnel records and other required information to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Performs administrative tasks (hiring, training, supervising) to maintain staffing levels and improve productivity.
