Staff Accountant​/Tax

KM Larson & Company CPAs is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented staff accountant. We are a local CPA firm focused on serving small business owners. The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree and a minimum of one to two years' experience working with individual and business tax returns, as well as being organized, trustworthy, and comfortable working with both people and confidential financial data.

Prepare and/or review income tax returns for individuals, business and trusts

Be responsible for filing extensions and meeting tax filing deadlines

Manage tax engagements including client contact, delegating and assigning work to staff

Conduct tax research as needed

Resolve tax issues with state and federal agencies

Be involved in consulting, tax planning and long-term planning for clients

Prepare and/or review compiled and reviewed financial statements, including adjusting entries

Provide consultation and support as needed in other functions such as sales tax, payroll, bookkeeping, and administrative team

At least 2 years income tax return preparation experience

Familiarity with tax processing software and highly proficient with Quick Books and Microsoft Excel

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Knowledge of accounting concepts including adjusting entries and financial statement presentation

Knowledge of current tax rules and procedures for individual, business, and trust taxation

Ability to work as part of a team, give and receive feedback, share knowledge and resources with other team members

Professional approach to work such as attention to detail, organization, initiative, thoroughness, and an attitude of continual learning and improvement

Ability to communicate with clients and develop a long-term relationship based on trust and mutual respect
