Responsibilities
The Estimator is responsible for producing accurate, competitive and well-documented estimates and material take-offs for landscape construction projects. The successful candidate will work closely with the Sales Leader, Designers, Project Managers, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure that every bid IKON submits reflects accurate pricing, realistic scope and IKON’s quality standards.
Key Responsibilities Estimate Development- Review project plans, drawings, specifications and site visit notes to build detailed cost estimates for landscape construction projects, including hardscape, planting, irrigation, grading and related scopes.
- Calculate labor hours by trade and phase, apply current labor rates and factor in equipment, mobilization and project-specific cost drivers.
- Apply profit margins and overhead in coordination with the Sales Leader to produce proposals that are competitive and protect IKON’s profitability.
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs from design plans and specifications for plants, hardscape, soil, irrigation components, drainage and related materials.
- Organize take-off documentation clearly so Project Managers and field teams can use it for procurement and project planning.
- Coordinate with the Sales Leader, Designers and Account Managers to ensure estimates align with client scope, design intent and any value engineering requests.
- Prepare alternate pricing, allowances and scope exclusions as requested, and support the Sales Leader in assembling the final proposal package for client submission.
- Solicit and compare subcontractor and supplier quotes for materials and specialized scopes; document pricing received and apply it accurately to the estimate.
- Maintain relationships with key material suppliers to ensure pricing stays current and competitive.
- Maintain IKON’s internal pricing database, including material unit costs, labor rates and subcontractor pricing.
- Track win/loss results on all submitted bids and participate in post-bid reviews to continuously improve estimate accuracy and pricing strategy.
- 2+ years of landscape construction estimating experience, or equivalent experience in a related construction field.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret landscape construction, grading and irrigation plans.
- Strong working knowledge of landscape materials, plant pricing and hardscape installation methods in the Intermountain West.
- Proficient in estimating software or spreadsheet-based estimating; experience with LMN, Aspire, Bluebeam or Plan Swift is a plus.
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Construction Management, Horticulture or a related field preferred, but not required.
