Full Time, Permanent

We would like to appoint a Project Surveyor to join our Planned Programmes service. You will be working within the Specialist Project team and may move across teams and planned work areas as our investment plans develop.

Responsibilities
  • Take responsibility for repair & refurbishment work on houses, flats (low & high rise), roof replacement programmes, refurbishment of older stock, conversions, community space improvements, and other stock.
  • Oversee major and complex improvement works including extensions and alterations to increase occupancy potential.
  • Collaborate with Structural Engineers to deliver complex structural repairs.
  • Oversee work on high rise blocks, drainage and capacity issues, and conduct structural surveys of communal areas.
  • Prepare specifications of works, supporting documentation and procurement using varied procurement frameworks, including schedule of rates.
  • Facilitate changes to existing buildings, undertake option appraisals of dwellings and structures, and report findings.
  • Own end‑to‑end delivery of assigned projects, ensuring high standards, value for money, and a satisfactory experience for residents and stakeholders.
  • Administer contracts and provide technical oversight, ensuring compliance with health & safety, CDM, BSR, HHSRS and other construction regulations.
  • Check payment claims and recommend payments in line with budget oversight and reporting.
  • Conduct regular visits to residents’ homes and sites, perform quality control and post‑inspections.
  • Use scaffolds and ladders safely and follow safe lone‑working practices.
Qualifications
  • Experience of surveying residential property; experience in social housing is beneficial.
  • Proven technical knowledge and relevant qualifications.
  • Experience in managing technical staff and contractors.
  • Strong people‑management, organisational, record‑keeping, customer‑care and communication skills.
  • Good project‑management and people skills to deliver maintenance & refurbishment programmes to the City Council's housing stock.
  • Experience with contractor management, ensuring quality, cost‑effectiveness and customer focus.
  • Ability to use IT systems and basic software (Microsoft).
